About Our School

The Arnold Ipolyi Basic School in Balog nad Ipľom is a fully organized, nine-grade educational institution currently attended by 118 students from 10 municipalities.

The students are taught and educated by well-prepared, qualified educators whose heartfelt mission is to ensure that their students leave primary school thoroughly prepared and equipped with knowledge to succeed in secondary schools, higher education, and life in general. We strive to create a humane school environment where the primary goals are building trust and respect. We place great emphasis on education towards a healthy lifestyle and the preservation of our environment.

In our teaching practices, we utilize new educational methodologies. We make continuous efforts to acquire new textbooks and modern teaching aids that facilitate the mastery of the curriculum. Every step we take is driven by the goal of creating a high-quality school.

Since the 2003/2004 academic year, foreign language education has occupied a prominent place in our curriculum. We teach English starting from the 3rd grade, fully aware that knowledge of a foreign language is a fundamental prerequisite for future success. Recognizing the importance of computer literacy, computer science education is also provided in all upper-grade classes with the guidance of qualified teaching staff. Our school joined the Infovek program, through which we obtained six computers and free internet connectivity. In the subsequent school year, our school’s hardware facilities were expanded with additional computers. Over the past two years, we have acquired more computers through grant applications, bringing the total number to 70.

Thanks to successful project applications, we can also boast 9 interactive whiteboards and 3 interactive displays, to the delight of both students and teachers.

The school building also hosts several departments of the Art School of Balog nad Ipľom, which has launched programs in music, fine arts, and dance. Within the music department, students learn to play the piano, guitar, flute, and practice singing. In the dance department, children can develop their movement culture.

Our students actively and successfully participate in various competitions. They traditionally achieve excellent results in poetry, prose, and storytelling recitations, as well as in fine arts, history, mathematics, sports competitions, and project contests. In sport shooting, our students perform exceptionally well, achieving great success not only at the district level but frequently advancing to regional, national, and even international competitions. Beyond the children’s talent, all these achievements are due to the dedicated and conscientious work of our educators.

An exhibition arranged from the children’s artwork, along with a multitude of certificates earned at various competitions, is on display inside the school building.

Our school offers students the opportunity to spend their leisure time constructively by engaging in the activities of various extracurricular clubs. In the 2025/2026 academic year, these are as follows:

We can proudly state that many of the students who graduated from Balog nad Ipľom have become doctors, engineers, teachers, priests, and there is even a government minister among them. These individuals honorably hold their ground in life. Their examples also prove the legitimacy and validity of education in the mother tongue.
