Marksmanship Club

In the past, numerous shooting clubs operated in the Veľký Krtíš District, boasting significant membership and outstanding results. At the Primary School of Ipolybalog, a shooting club has been active for decades and continues to operate to this day. From 1964 to 1997, it was led with great success by our colleague, Barnabás Molnár Sr. Under his guidance, our students won several traveling trophies. There was even a period when the students from Ipolybalog won the district shooting cup consecutively for ten years. In recognition of his decades of successful work, he was named the best coach of the Veľký Krtíš District in 1996 and was awarded a commemorative medal.

Following the political transition, Zväzarm (Association for Cooperation with the Army) was dissolved in many schools, leading to the closure of shooting clubs and school shooting circles. However, the club at our school continues to operate, and since 1997, it has been led by the teacher, Barnabás Molnár Jr. Students attend the extracurricular club once a week, starting from the fifth grade. Financial support has also contributed to the excellent results achieved in recent years. In addition to our existing equipment (15 Slavia 631 rifles, remote-controlled targets, tilting targets, etc.), the school management kindly funded the purchase of four sports shooting spotting scopes worth 15,000 SKK, which greatly contribute to the high standard of training sessions and competitions.

An article about the success of the shooting club was published in the public monthly magazine Kürtös in November 2008.

Training from previous years.

In the past six years alone at the district level, the school's shooters finished first once as a team, second twice, and third three times. In addition, our competitors won numerous first, second, and third-place individual awards. In the 2006/2007 academic year, the best male shooter in the Veľký Krtíš District was a ninth-grade student of our school, Barnabás Molnár III, who won the shooting league, which was a four-round competition. He also won first place in the competition for the title of Champion of the Veľký Krtíš District. His results were: league – 566 rings (out of a possible 600), championship – 287 rings (out of a maximum of 300). In the younger girls' category, seventh-grader Lúcia Saróka triumphed. She finished first in the league (with 470 rings) and second in the championship (with 228 rings). Our school won third place in the team competition (Team members from left: Benedek Molnár, Barnabás Molnár, Dávid Zachar, and Lúcia Saróka). The high-quality competitions, in which thirty-eight students from the district participated, were organized by the shooting club of Príbelce and its leader, Pavel Tomaškin. The trophies and medals won over the past years prove that it is worthwhile and necessary to engage our students in the field of sports shooting.
