06/05/2026 – 16th Arnold Ipolyi Folk Tale-telling Competition, Regional Semi-final

On May 6, one of the eight regional semi-finals of the Arnold Ipolyi Folk Tale-telling Competition took place in Ipolyszakállos, where more than 60 young storytellers presented their performances. Based on the evaluation of the professional jury, the competition was characterized by high-quality productions, with a predominant focus on oral storytelling. This approach evokes the oral tradition of folk tales and allows for improvisation, the continuous shaping of the story, and interaction with the audience.

From the strong and numerous field of contestants, 9 storytellers across three categories were awarded the “Outstanding Gold Band” (High Gold) classification, which secured their advancement to the national finals. Our school was represented by Alexa Ivanics (3rd-grade student) in Category I, and Bíborka Gaučík and Franciska Rados (9th-grade students) in Category III, all of whom are considered experienced storytellers. The jury recognized their performances with a Silver Band classification for Alexa and Bíborka, and a Gold Band classification for Franciska. We offer our heartfelt congratulations to our talented students for their excellent results and hope they will continue their journey in storytelling, as well as in poetry or prose recitation, in the future.
