16/11/2000 – Naming Ceremony
November 16, 2000, remains a memorable day in the life of our school. On this day, the Primary School of Ipolybalog solemnly adopted the name of Arnold Ipolyi, one of the most versatile figures of Hungarian intellectual life and a native of Hont County.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including: József Tempfli, Roman Catholic Diocesan Bishop of Oradea; Péter Kovács, Head of the Department of National Minorities Affairs; Dr. György Lehr, Chief Advisor from Hungary; as well as representatives of the District Office.
On the occasion of the naming ceremony, our students took the following pledge:
Pledge
We, the students of the Arnold Ipolyi Primary School with Hungarian Instructional Language in Ipolybalog, solemnly pledge:
- According to our abilities, aptitude, and opportunities, we will strive to acquire as much knowledge as possible in order to become beneficial citizens of our homeland and our Hungarian national community.
- We will cherish our homeland, our culture, and our beloved mother tongue, remaining forever faithful to them.
- We will honor the achievements of our predecessors, preserve their memory, and nurture and pass down our cultural heritage.
- We will respect and love our parents, our teachers, and our peers.
- We will explore the works of our school’s namesake, Arnold Ipolyi, honor his memory, and bring further distinction to his name through our conduct, academic achievements, and steadfast integrity in every stage of our lives.
